The officer retired in May, 2022 after three decades of policing, but was recently working as a special officer when allegations of rape were made against him, according to NBC10. The assault allegedly occurred while the officer was still working for the Rowley Police Department.
The officer, who has yet to be identified because of the active investigation, is being represented by a lawyer who told NBC10 that the officer is a “fine, upstanding member of the community and has no statement to make at this time.”
No further comments were made by the Essex County DA's office. The investigation is ongoing.
